We opened an office in Istanbul in 2003. Since then, we have conducted investigations and collected evidence for our clients – to enable them to raid manufacturers and seize counterfeit stock. This ranges from automotive parts to DVDs and software, both in Turkey and further afield. The law in Turkey favours brand owners, enabling strong action to be taken against counterfeiters under criminal law.
If you are an English speaking client and would like to discuss an issue in Turkey please contact our London office on +44 (0) 870 351 2486 or email info@cerberusip.com.
Eğer Türkçe konuşan bir müşteriseniz ve Türkiye’deki bir konuyu görüşmek istiyorsanız lütfen bizimle Istanbul ofisinin +90 212 335 27 50 no’lu telefon veya info@cerberus.com.tr email adresinden irtibata geçiniz.
A typical method for dealing with counterfeiters in Turkey is as follows:
Investigate the counterfeit chain to track the product back to a factory.
Make pretext approaches, and use other methods, to obtain evidence of counterfeit activity that is admissible in the Turkish courts.
Label and hand the evidence over to the law firm.
At this point the law firm will take the evidence and apply to the court, to obtain authorization to raid the factory or company.
Once the order has been granted, the lawyers will then organise the raid.
We can assist with the raid by being present. Here we can help ensure that all relevant products are seized and that all relevant paperwork is confiscated. We can also provide other services to assist with the raid – for example, logistical support, providing lorries for the seized stock and organising storage.
Another area we have assisted in is any destruction issues which comply with environmental legislation.
As well as our anti–counterfeiting work we can also provide the following services in Turkey:
- Tracing
- Due diligence
- Company investigations
- Verification of use enquiries
- Surveillance
- Customs liason
